Brother MFC-J1205W Manual (Setup Guide)

The Brother MFC-J1205W is an all-in-one printer designed for small families and students. It employs Brother’s patented INKvestment Tank ink system, a cross between high-yield cartridges and supertank printers, to achieve high page yields at a low cost-per-print. It has a flatbed scanner with hinges that rise slightly to scan heavier materials and quick access to potential paper jams and ink cartridges. Unfortunately, there is no automated document feeder, and the overall print speed is unsatisfactory. Although it takes decent-looking photographs with passably accurate colors, there is noticeable grain and banding in lighter spots. This printer is suitable for home usage. The cost-per-print is excellent, it prints good-looking photographs with adequate color accuracy, and the Brother Mobile Connect software is excellent. Although there is simply a flatbed scanner, its scan resolution and color depth should be adequate for casual use. Unfortunately, printing from external storage is not possible. This printer is a letdown for small or home offices. Although it produces excellent black and color document yields and warms up rapidly to print the first page, it lacks an automated document feeder and prints black text documents slowly. Although there is no Ethernet port, you can connect to a network using Wi-Fi. For students, the Brother MFC-J1205W is ideal. The cost-per-print for both black and color documents is really low, and it warms up quickly enough to print the first page. It also contains a flatbed scanner for digitizing notes or textbook pages, and it can print wirelessly through Wi-Fi Direct or through a network. It does not, however, permit printing through Bluetooth or from external storage. This printer is suitable for black-and-white printing, with a surprisingly cheap cost-per-print and a high black page yield. Although it warms up quickly enough to print the first page, it produces pages quite slowly, so long documents may require some patience. There is no automatic document feeder, and double-sided printing is done by hand. The Brother MFC-J1205W is adequate for occasional photo printing. It accepts 4″ x 6″ and 5″ x 7″ glossy picture paper types and has a cheap cost-per-print for images. The photographs produced appear good, however there is some grain and banding in the lighter parts. Although the colors are only marginally accurate, this printer should be enough for general use.
