Another significant advantage is that it is pretty quick for an inkjet MFP at its pricing. Its output quality should be improved, but it is still adequate for most general business applications. The MFC-J4420DW has the ability to print, copy, scan, and fax. It can print, fax, and scan to computers, even those connected to a network, it can function as a standalone copier and fax machine. It can print straight from a PictBridge-compatible camera; and it can print from and scan to a USB memory key. It also allows you to examine files from a USB flash drive on its 2.7-inch color touch screen before printing. The maximum paper capacity is 150 sheets. There’s also a one-page manual feed slot, which, like the other printers in the series, can accept paper up to 11-by-17-inch. It has an automated duplexer for printing on both sides.. To minimize space, it stores and feeds paper in landscape orientation, like do other Business Smart models. For scanning, copying, and faxing multipage documents, there is a 20-sheet automated document feeder (ADF). Because both the paper tray and the ADF have limited capacity, this model is best suited for home or micro-office use, or as a personal printer in any size business. The MFC-J4420DW can be connected to a PC by USB or to a network via Wi-Fi. It also supports Wi-Fi Direct, which enables direct printing between compatible devices without the use of an access point. For printing from mobile devices, it is compatible with Apple AirPrint, Brother iPrint&Scan, Google Cloud Print, and Cortado WorkPlace. It does not have Ethernet connectivity. I ran it using a USB connection with the drivers loaded on a Windows Vista PC.
