The MFC-J5340DW is a Business Smart Pro inkjet all-in-one (AIO) printer by Brother that prints tabloid-size (11-by-17-inch) sheets. It prints well overall, is moderately fast, and comes with a robust collection of features and software, making it an excellent choice for low-volume business printing in a home-based, small office, or workgroup. If you have the space, it would also make an excellent personal AIO. With its trays closed, this printer measures 12 by 20.9 by 15.7 inches (HWD) and weighs 36.8 pounds, making it too large for the average-sized desktop. It handles tabloid-size (A3) media in addition to A4, or letter-size (8.5-by-11-inch) paper through a single-sheet feeder that extends out from the back of the chassis; you can also extend the main 250-sheet paper drawer up front to carry a stack of wide-format paper. However, other AIOs in its class offer more strong paper handling capabilities. The printer’s ADF can handle up to 50 pages but does not support auto-duplexing. Furthermore, like the other Brother printers reviewed here, this model has a maximum monthly duty cycle of 30,000 pages and a suggested monthly print volume of 2,000 pages. The control panel is comprised of a 2.7-inch color touch screen, a handful of buttons, and a keypad on the left-front side of the MFC-J5340DW’s chassis. The control panel, which also has a USB port, is where you can setup this machine, modify security settings, and do walkup operations like making copies or printing from a USB thumb drive. You can alternatively use the built-in secure (HTTPS) web server to do the same functions. Connecting to a single PC through USB, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi Direct is standard connection. Google Cloud Print, the Brother iPrint&Scan app, and Cortado Workplace are among the other mobile connectivity options. The MFC-J5340DW is Apple AirPrint and Mopria-compliant, allowing you to print from iOS and Android devices. To name a few, Brother Connect lets you scan and upload photos to Picasa Web Albums, Google Docs, Flickr, Evernote, Dropbox, Box, OneNote, and Brother Cloud Apps. Brother’s cloud apps include Scan to Office, Office Print, Easy Scan to Email, Scan to Mobile, Scan to Searchable PDF, Outline&Copy, NoteScan (for scanning to Microsoft OneNote, CreativeCenter, and Fax Forward to Cloud/Email). CreativeCenter is a collection of templates for things like calendars and greeting cards.
