The Brother MFC-L2750DW XL is one of the company’s first “XL” laser printers, which essentially implies that it comes with a lot of extra toner. This results in a higher price than we’re used to seeing in an entry-level to midrange monochrome laser all-in-one (AIO), but it’s reasonably fast and prints well, making it a good choice for home-based or small office and workgroups with light print and copy loads, or even a personal monochrome laser AIO. The disadvantage here is that, unlike Brother’s INKvestment inkjet competitors, which not only come with extra ink but also have very low continuing operating costs, the XL series only offers the convenience of additional toner at the time of purchase. In other words, you won’t be getting toner as frequently, but when you do, you’ll pay the same rather high per-page cost as you would for toner for numerous other Brother entry-level machines. Essentially, all you get for the extra money is slightly cheaper toner for the first few thousand pages and, depending on usage, a large gap between when you buy the printer and when you need to buy more toner—a convenience, to be sure, but probably not a significant one. Despite its mid-range price, the MFC-L2750DW XL is a basic desktop-size AIO. It is smaller and lighter than many of its similarly priced competitors, measuring 12.5 by 16.1 by 15.7 inches (HWD) and weighing 27.7 pounds. This device is more likely to fit nicely on your desktop than most of its competitors. The MFC-L2750DW XL can handle up to 251 sheets of paper, divided between a 250-sheet cassette and a one-sheet override tray for loading envelopes and other one-time media without opening and reconfiguring the main tray. Furthermore, the maximum monthly duty cycle is 15,000 pages (2,000 pages recommended). These figures are much lower than those of the majority of similarly priced monochrome laser AIOs.
