A3 printing is becoming more popular in both home and small-business settings. The Epson WorkForce WF-7110 is a low-cost A3 printer with a variety of handy accessories and versatile paper handling. It provides excellent value for money at a low price of £112. This is a large printer, which is unavoidable given its capacity to accommodate A3. Epson has made the output tray and both of the front paper cartridges telescoping in order to reduce the footprint. This implies that when printing in A4 or smaller, you can leave them partially expanded. The top cartridge accepts paper sizes ranging from 15 x 10cm to A3+, while the lower one accepts A4 and A3/A3+. There’s also a flip-out, single-sheet feed with a straight-through paper route at the back. The biggest issue with paper handling, which is not limited to Epson machines, is paper detection. You’d think it’d be rather straightforward to recognize the location of the paper guides in a tray, but most modern machines demand you to reconfirm paper sizes and kinds every time you add paper. The control panel is straightforward, centered on a tiny, 56mm mono LCD monitor. It contains all of the information required to operate the printer. However, the layout isn’t really appealing. The four separate cartridges are clipped onto a head carrier through an easily accessible top cover that folds back. The black cartridge comes in three sizes, the biggest of which has a capacity of 2,200 pages. The color tanks can hold up to 1,100 pages, and the WorkForce WF-7110 comes with USB, 10/100 Ethernet, and a wireless connection, the latter of which allows for direct and remote printing from Windows, iOS, and Android devices. In our view, Epson provides one of the finest Android applications for locating and logging into accessible printers. Epson rates the WorkForce WF-7110 at 18ppm mono printing and 10ppm color printing. In draft mode, which is significantly lighter than standard print, our five-page text document returned 11.5ppm, which climbed slightly to 12ppm. The speed increased to 15.2ppm when the page count was increased to 20, and the five-page black text and color graphics test was generated at 5.7ppm. All of these speeds are within the standard and are fairly fast for this type of equipment. A3 text and graphics pages took 1 minute 34 seconds, or 12.8ppm, whereas an A4 text document printed at 7.7 sides per minute in duplex mode. Finally, a 15 x 10cm shot from an Android smartphone took less than a minute, while an A3 photo from a PC took 2 minutes and 53 seconds.
