The Epson Expression Photo XP-860 Small-in-One is an inkjet multifunction printer (MFP) primarily designed for home usage, while many of its functions would also be useful in a home office. The fact that it uses six ink cartridges in a (mostly successful) endeavor to increase photo quality is one of the most home-friendly features. The MFP can print, copy, scan, and fax single- and two-sided documents, and it can also function as a stand-alone device. It can scan to a computer or a network folder and print from or scan to a memory card or USB thumb drive. It can also print on DVDs or CDs that are inkjet-printable. It measures 7.5 by 15.4 by 13.3 inches (HWD), so finding a spot for it should be simple. It includes a 100-sheet main paper tray, a 20-sheet photo-paper tray that can take up to 5-by-7-inch paper, and a one-sheet feeder for specialty paper, as well as a one-sheet feeder for specialty paper. It comes with an auto-duplexer that allows you to print on both sides of a sheet of paper. A 30-page duplexing automated document feeder (ADF) and a letter-size flatbed are located on the top. A 4.3-inch touch-screen LCD is located in front of the control panel, which can be tilted up. The memory card slot (SD, MS Duo, and CF cards are supported) and a USB thumb drive port are located to the left of the paper trays. The XP-860 connects to the internet through USB or Ethernet. Wireless communication is available by regular Wi-Fi or Wireless Direct, which allows for a direct peer-to-peer connection with a compatible device without the use of a network. The printer is Google Cloud Print compliant and allows users to scan directly to Facebook. It works with Epson Connect solutions, allowing you to view, print, and scan documents, images, emails, and webpages from anywhere in the world using a tablet, smartphone, or computer. It’s also Mopria-certified and Apple AirPrint compatible. Mopria, which was created by the Mopria Alliance, a non-profit consortium to which Epson participates, makes it simple for smartphones running Android v4.4 or later to connect to compatible printers. The XP-860 will work in tandem with the Mopria Print Service app and Android’s new printing infrastructure.
