The S9000 was launched in early January 2002 and went on sale in February. A3 printers are becoming more popular as more people want to print larger prints, but there are only a few models to select from. The printer has piqued the interest of many because it follows on from the S800, which impressed many, and this new model claims an even better specification. Canon is putting up some stiff competition for the more established, aimed firmly at enthusiasts and pros. First thoughts of this printer build were positive; it isn’t a backbreaker. It takes up more desk space, but compensates by being significantly quieter in operation. It is more expensive than most other A3 printers at approximately 450, but individuals who can afford to print at A3 size on a regular basis may not find this an issue. The feature list is quite similar to the previously model, which is not surprising given that they share the same cartridges and print head. High resolution, independent ink cartridges, borderless printing, and an on-site warranty are all great qualities. Canon is trying for more than just high-quality print output, they are seeking to give a top-tier product all around, which makes the printer’s premium price a little easier to bear. Installation is simple on most modern operating systems, and the printer connects to your PC or Mac through USB. As with most printers, no USB cable is included. You may begin printing once you’ve connected and setup the printer and it’s sitting on your desk, taking up any remaining space. The software for the S9000 is nearly identical to that of previously, and as such, it is easy to use and includes the same helpful print advisor for people who are new to printing. One of this printer’s key advantages is its speed; it can print A3 documents faster than some printers can produce A4.
